AMP Capital Launches New Fund For Asian Markets

, the Australian investment management firm, has launched a new fund product that targets Asian markets. The AMP Capital Asia Quant Fund was launched with $25 million in assets and will have an investable scope of over 800 equities across five countries, according to a statement. It will be managed by the team behind AMP's Australian multi-strategy funds, which manages at least $14 billion in assets across various strategies. According to Mark McClatchey, co-head of multi-strategy equity funds at AMP Capital, the fund will appeal to institutional investors, such as family offices, pension funds and sovereign wealth funds that seek superior returns. "These sophisticated investors favour quantitative returns because they tend to be consistent, repeatable and risk-controlled. They will also like the diversification of returns, which is market neutral and therefore delivers pure alpha, compared to long-only Asian portfolios," added McClatchey.
